Sophie

Hannah Sutherland

Hannah plays Sophie, a young housemaid with a romantic sense of adventure.

The following is Sophie's story, written by Hannah:

Born and raised on a small farm in the Southern region of France, young Sophie had been blessed with a happy home. As immigrants from Ireland, her parents had always striven to give her and her six siblings the best life they could, and were determined for their children to do better than they had. The small village Sophie grew up in was a true family, and a comfort to the girl whenever trials arose. It was all she had ever known, and all she wanted. As a friend to hard work, Sophie had been laboring in the fields for as long as she could remember. The pigs, cows, goats, and horses were her closest friends. Oh – the pride she took in her care of those animals. Never had a day gone by that she didn't talk with them, feed, water, or groom them. Until, that was, her fourteenth birthday.

On the day she had been born fourteen years prior, Sophie left the comfort and stability of her small, quiet village. Leaving behind the only friends and family she had ever known for an undenounced
period of time, Sophie was to work as a housemaid-for whom she did not know. Eventually the Compt's house became a familiar one, and Sophie strove to do her best. Eventually settling into her daily duties over the next few years, Sophie's thoughts began to focus much more upon her future; whom she would marry, his social status, and what his inheritance would be. Drifting ever farther away from the small, quiet life she had known, at seventeen Sophie's thoughts were no longer stretched between the two. Instead she was completely focused upon the man and status of her future.
